The new SE Suite installation process required changes in the corresponding documentation, which, as well as installation tools, went through some improvements aiming at maximizing installation process quality.

The changes made in this new version include:

- Standardization: Document follows international standards used by renown companies, thereby those people familiar with technical documentation will face no difficulties in understanding the whole process.

- Language unification: Document in the English language, avoiding translation problems in the languages where document is distributed.

- New visual identity: New Installation Guide follows the standard created for documentations by SoftExpert marketing team.

- New layout: Installation Guide layout was recreated and adjusted to provide users with a better understanding and visualization.

- New topics for Troubleshooting: Categorized by incidence place, they help the executor identify and solve problems that may occur during installation execution, through a fast and efficient way.

- New typography: A new typography was created to meet documentation new standard. Typography helps in the identification of information on procedures, mainly.

- More content: Section that describes environment preparation and installation prerequisites was improved, and it now details more information.

- More Effectiveness: Installation process will be successful if it has been properly planned and analyzed. It is also necessary that all requirements are completely understood and the environment is prepared according to what was planned. For this reason, topics related to it had their contents improved, making this process more effective and reducing errors during it. Procedures focus on the whole process, so users can better understand them and define the best configuration to be applied.

As a part of the installation process improvement, a new tool to be released will enable SoftExpert Excellence Suite to be installed in an automated way, ensuring process effectiveness.

Being part of this package, there are two new tools for database model and configuration management.

SEDBUpdate: Used for creating/updating objects in database according to a predefined model. This tool compares database structure with a model, generating a script with differences found.

SEConfigurator: Domain and database configuration manager. This tool enables database configurations to be added, edited or deleted through a quick and easy way.

The process has gone through a big change: the environment preparation, solution installation and parameterization steps are now separated. To start the installation it is necessary that all environment verification activities are finished, which makes the process more assertive and reliable.

SoftExpert international expansion brought the company the opportunity to join the Chinese market. Due to it, SoftExpert realized the need of products validation, which led to the Chinese Language Validation Project by the Technical Documentation team.

The goal of the project is to ensure quality and security in the implementations and in all the development steps, thereby offering the customers who use the Chinese language the same benefits they can find in other languages.

Items to be discussed in the project are:

      - Oracle 9i.
      - Oracle 10g.
      - Oracle 11g.
      - SQL Server 2000.
      - SQL Server 2005.
      - PostgreSQL.
      - Web Server Windows 2008 Server.
      - Web Server Linux.
      - Validation of versions of the Java JRE.
      - Validation of the new Framework.

After the validation, adjustments and improvements will be listed for better operation and usage of the system in Chinese. They will be then sent to manufacture to be analyzed and added to the product Roadmap.

O Gartner apontou quatro tendências que vão causar mudanças significativas na indústria de software nos próximos anos.

A primeira delas é o aumento de novas tecnologias e a convergência entre as tecnologias existentes. Os mash-ups serão o modelo predominante para criação de aplicativos corporativos em 2010, de acordo com a consultoria.

Outra tendência apontada pela empresa é a criação de softwares mais orientados a usuários. Em 2015, as empresas não terão vantagem competitiva se não aproveitarem o potencial de comportamentos individuais, dinâmicas sociais e colaboração, alertou o Gartner.

A consultoria indica ainda que haverá uma mudança radical na forma como o software será consumido. A arquitetura orientada a serviços (SOA) será usada em 80% das novas aplicações de missão crítica das empresas.

Segundo o Gartner, entre 2008 e 2009 as empresas devem fazer uma reengenharia radical nos seus processos para se adaptarem a essa transição.

Por fim, o Gartner defende que o mercado terá “megafornecedores” atuando em toda a cadeia do mercado de software, no lugar de fornecedores focados em determinados produtos.
